Orthorexia

Orthorexia is an obsession with eating healthy. It can be hard to know if you have Orthorexia given our culture’s “wellness” obsession. However, if you find yourself preoccupied with food it might be time to explore your relationship with food. Signs of Orthorexia

  • Cutting out entire food groups (eg, carbs, sugar)

  • Strict rules about calorie intake

  • Inflexible eating schedules

  • Preoccupation with your body

  • Self-esteem that is dependent on how your body looks

  • Exercising to compensate for eating

  • Difficulty eating at restaurants or at friends’ houses
